We can provide quotes and pricing for many common locomotive boilers and slight variations of them. Quotes for custom projects are considered individually.

For inspections and repairs, we may be able to provide a preliminary estimate, however all such work is done on a time and material basis and the final cost may vary from the initial estimate.

Payment:

All projects require a 50% down payment at the time the order is placed. Down payments for repair work will vary with material costs. The remaining balance will be due upon completion, before pickup or shipping.

Shipping:

We are located in Washington, Missouri. We find it easiest and recommend that customers pick up/drop off their project in person so that they can make their own inspection and witness a final hydro-static test. If that’s not possible, the customer will be responsible for making shipping arrangements.

We do not usually deliver, but depending on our availability and the distance involved we may consider delivery on a case-by-case basis, for an additional fee plus mileage rates.

Quality Assurance:

Our boilers are built with pressure-vessel quality steel to a minimum safety factor of four. Each one comes with a copy of a construction packet unique to it. This packet is the boiler's “birth certificate” and includes a certificate of construction, a report of a hydro-static test made to 200% of the MAWP, Mill Test Reports (MTRs) for the steel used, and basic strength calculations.

Miniature/Hobby Boilers

Different states and jurisdictions have various rules governing the construction, operation, maximum size, code requirements, and inspection requirements for miniature live steam or hobby boilers. Owners/operators are responsible for ensuring their locomotive’s compliance with these requirements. Please reference your jurisdiction’s laws prior to placing an order.
